Fluxus cannot save the world

The Fluxus Constellation - Museo di Villa Croce, Genova - 2002
Ben Vautier is an artist of Fluxus, a movement that aims to bring art into life to the point of total coincidence of the two spheres. Very different international artists have been part of Fluxus, from Joseph Beuys to Daniel Spoerri, from Nam June Paik to Ben Patterson. Ben Vautier starting from the Ready mades of Marcel Duchamp, appropriates the world around him, including the works of other artists, his own body and that of others, through his signature and his characteristic cursive handwriting that invades and covers everything dissolving the boundary between art and life according to that Fluxus perspective that distinguishes him. The work in the collections is a wall intervention made at the museum in 2002 to celebrate 40 years of the movement. In the room reserved for him, the artist had installed many of his works reserving the right to intervene directly on a wall, with spray cans of fluorescent colors. He summarizes his Fluxus poetics with irony considered his trademark.
