The work was purchased at the Exhibition of the Società Promotrice di Belle Arti in Genoa in 1923. "Calma argentea" portrays Alma Fidora, wife of the critic Ugo Nebbi and one of the founding artists of the futurist oriented group "Nuove Tendenze" (New Trends) in 1914. She was later active in the field of fashion, designing fans, fabrics and dresses. The suspended atmosphere of the painting is clearly inspired by Felice Casorati's research, while for the pictorial tones, realised in hatches and small dots, Guerello refers to the non-naturalistic qualities of Rubaldo Merello's works, which came after his Divisionist period.
